Before Your Visit
This is another page that has been resurrected from the archives to bring back to life the old site as it was back in the early part of the twenty first century. Here are some things you should be aware of before you decide to visit the Nature Works.
- Notify River Bend of the final count of students 7 days in advance of the scheduled field trip. The total fee assessed and number of field guides secured will be based on this final count.
- Make each student a name tag, first name only. Place the students in groups prior to their visit. Plan on at least one adult chaperone for every group.
- Review the River Bend Nature Works Rules with your students and chaperones. Failure to follow the rules may mean the student or visitor is asked to leave.
- Students should dress appropriately according to the weather. It is always cooler at River Bend because of the breeze and shade. We suggest students and visitors wear closed toed shoes with socks. Long pants are preferred to protect against insect bites and poison ivy. Please don't wear new shoes or new clothes while on a field trip (mud is common at River Bend).
- Wear insect repellent, especially around feet and ankles.
- When scheduling, please alert our staff to any student or visitor who may have special needs - physical, mental or emotional. The nature trail and pavilion areas are handicap accessible, but a different entrance is used. Also, we will schedule more guides per group if there are students with disabilities who are participating.
- We want the program to be successful for all, so please let us know about special needs children or adults
